Wurlitzer Opus 585
Status report as of Sept 1 2010
Colonial Theatre Wurlitzer Organ
Update
Colonial Wurlitzer Update
The marimba harp has been releathered and rebuilt and installed in the solo rear
chamber.
This completes installation of all tuned percussions and offset chests in this
chamber. All
windlines have also been installed and tested. The only remaining operation is
to connect
the cables from the various components to the relay panel.
Windlines have also been installed and tested to the various components in the
rear main
chamber. Wiring in this chamber has yet to be completed.
All missing tuning collars in both chambers have been replaced with new collars.
The computer has been installed into the console and programing for the main
chamber
is complete and this side of the organ is operating as required. While
programming and
testing the solo chamber organ, a problem was discovered with the relay. After
discussions
with the system manufacturer, it was concluded that there is a defective chip on
one of the
boards. A spare board will be used to locate the defective one. After this is
accomplished,
programming and testing of the solo chamber organ system can be completed.
All tremulants for both chambers have been wired and cables run back to the
relay panels.
Wind pressures have been checked at all chests and tweeked as necessary. Work
continues
as time permits to track down and correct minor wind leaks.
Upon correction of the solo chamber relay problem, the organ will be ready for
tuning.
